Big, Bold Barbecue Championship Set for Sept. 23-24 in Dana Point
The city of Dana Point's world-class barbecue championship is set for Sept. 23-24 at Sea Terrace Park, Pacific Coast Highway and Niguel Road.
Are you a barbecued-food lover? Prefer ribs over a veggie burger? Brisket instead of alfalfa sprouts? Pulled pork stacked high on sour dough?
Are you the next Bobby Flay? Or do you just like the char-grilled flavors of the grill?
If so, head on down to the city of Dana Point's world-class barbecue championship set for Sept. 23-24 at Sea Terrace Park, at Pacific Coast Highway and Niguel Road.
The city is partnering with the Kansas City Barbecue Society to bring backyard enthusiasts, as well as professionals, together for a barbecue marathon.
Competitors from around the country are expected to descend on Dana Point to vie for up to $10,000 in cash prizes that will be awarded to the top winners.
Categories include: chicken, pork, ribs, brisket and dessert.
Entry fee is $250; to compete, contact the city of Dana Point Community Services Department at 949-248-3530 or visit danapoint.org for an event application.
Saturday, Sept. 24, will be the showcase day featuring live music, a refreshment garden, displays and food. The event is free and open to the non-competing public.
