Dana Point Barbecue Championship Brings Out Best of The Best

The first-ever Dana Point barbecue championship attracted hundreds of visitors and 48 grill masters on Saturday to Sea Terrace Park, at Pacific Coast Highway and Niguel Road for a fun-filled day.
The city partnered with the Kansas City Barbecue Society to bring backyard enthusiasts, as well as professionals, together for the barbecue marathon.
Competitors from around the country vied for $10,000 in cash prizes and cooked a variety of foods ranging from chicken and pork to ribs and brisket.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Dana Point Chamber of Commerce, the 5th Marine Support Group, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9934, local non-profits and youth groups in Dana Point.
